Meet the Team

Gordon Attwood  – General Manager

Gordon is the General Manager for Mind and Body.

Originally from Waihi, Gordon has a bachelor’s degree in Social Science, and also a post-grad Diploma in Management (PMER).

He has worked extensively in social sector fields in both rural and city locations. His work experience includes child and social welfare sectors, income support, offender rehabilitation, youth, children with special needs, health and disabilities, and social development. He brings extensive management experience from the social sector and also draws on his community and private consultancy experience.

Gordon has a particular interest in quality from the customer perspective, and also in overall people development.


Sheree Veysey – Delivery Lead (Like Minds, Like Mine Projects)

Sheree is the delivery lead for the Like Minds, Like Mine projects at Mind and Body Consultants.

Sheree is passionate about using her personal experience and myriad skills to help spread positive messages about mental health.

Since 2006 she has worked across a variety of mental health related roles, including offering crisis and information support on the Depression line, Journal and thelowdown, as trainer for Lifeline and as a social practice worker counselling in South Auckland. She first worked for Mind and Body in 2007, and was excited to return to the organisation in 2016 with much extended mental health and addictions contacts and experience.

Sheree holds Bachelor of Communication Studies (TV production),  a Post graduate diploma in counselling, Masters in Social Practice (1st class honours) and the NZQA Certificate in Peer support (Level 4).

Sheree is most grateful that the ups, downs and roundabouts of her recovery journey have taught her about self-compassion, holistic wellbeing, the importance of the individual journey – and that relationships are at the heart of good lives and wellbeing.


Hayley Sher – Auckland Peer Support Service Manager

Hayley is the Auckland Peer Support Service Manager (covering the ADHB & WDHB regions) and is responsible for a team of around 18 PSWs.

Hayley has extensive experience in the mental health field spending over a decade volunteering for Victim Support and providing professional supervision to others working in the same field.

She first became involved with Mind and Body as a service user in 1994, she then began working as a peer support worker and quickly moved into the service manager position – so she knows and understands every aspect of peer support!

She lives the philosophy of Mind and Body:

“Everyone is capable of learning, growing and changing”


Carla Manson – Christchurch Peer Support Service Manager

Carla runs the Christchurch Peer Support team; she holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Services alongside qualifications in management and human service.

She has worked in the disability sector with children, young people and their families, both in residential, community and education settings. She brings management and quality experience from the social sector.

Carla has an interest in the area of autism spectrum disorders, quality improvement and service development


Shelley Roodt – Wellington Peer Advocacy Service Manager

Shelley would like to live in a world where e-mails are short, love letters are true and thank you notes are scribbled by hand. A firm believer in human rights Shelley believes that every interaction holds potential and all people are to be treated as equal.

She is passionate about community mental health and spent numerous years in volunteer and leadership roles in community NGO’s in South Africa.

Shelley holds a BA (Health Sciences and Social Services) and an Honours BA (Psychology) from the University of South Africa as well as a Diploma in Health Science from Technikon Kwazulu-Natal.

Drawing on 4 years of senior management experience within a corporate environment, Shelley now focuses on leading the Mind and Body Peer Advocacy Service team in Wellington.

When she’s not working with the Peer Advocacy team advocating for human rights, you will find Shelley indulging her inner bookworm or shamelessly indulging in copious amounts of “therapeutic” chocolate!


Bailee Jung – Business Services Coordinator

As the Business Services Coordinator, Bailee’s role is responsible for the support systems of the organisation; specifically coordinating finances, payroll, administration, health and safety, and quality. She has worked at Mind and Body for over 5 years in several different roles.

Bailee’s professional background includes extensive administration experience as well as teaching and veterinary nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary), Diploma in Veterinary Nursing and a Certificate in Business Administration.

Outside of work Bailee can found on, in or under the water, mountain biking, reading a book or doing yoga.
