Carmel Henry

Carmel’s background is in the delivery of disability, mental health and wellbeing services in Aotearoa. Having worked for more than 25 years across NGO, private and government sectors, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role as Operations Manager at Mind & Body.

In 2001, Carmel established Renaissance Group, the first contracted supported living service in New Zealand. She went on to work with the Ministry of Health to develop the National Service Specifications for Community Living’s ‘Supported Living’ and ‘Choice in Community Living’ services. She has also owned and managed companies providing vocational rehabilitation, counselling, psychotherapy, and psychology services for tamariki, rangatahi and adults.

Before joining Mind & Body, Carmel was the director of an IT company that developed a cloud-based learning management system used in New Zealand and Australian health and disability sectors. She also worked alongside several organisations to identify and achieve their social impact goals.

Carmel holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Youth and Community Development. Carmel is passionate about the value of lived experience in service development and delivery.
